Unfailing Love

I am showing this picture because I think this plant is very unusual.  It shows the differences there are in plants and how they all can be beautiful in their own way.  God made us all different and we all have beauty that He gave us.  In our world today many people think that because God made everything with differences, people can believe anything they want and still be right with God.  Well I want to look at the Bible and see what God's word, His love letters to us, says about this subject.

In Exodus 20:1-6 it states,
1 And God spoke all these words saying:
2 "I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 You shall have no other gods before Me.
4 You shall not make for yourself a carved image-any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth;
5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them.  For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,
6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments."

And 1 Corinthians 10:20-22 says,
20 Rather, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I do not want you to have fellowship with demons.
21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord's table and of the table of demons.
22 Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy?  Are we stronger than He?

In these scriptures we are advised to acknowledge and worship only one God.  He is our maker.  We must never put anything, anyone, and especially ourselves before God.  If it is not for God, we cannot breath or live at all.

In Romans 3:29-30 the Word says,
29 Or is He the God of the Jews only?  Is He not also the God of the Gentiles?  Yes, of the Gentiles also,
30 since there is one God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith.

Ephesians 4:4-6
4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling;
5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in all.

The Lord Jesus Christ said in John 14:6 ..."I Am the way, the truth, and the life:  No man comes to  the Father, but by Me."

We are given so much information in God's Word that tells us that we are to worship Him and that there is one God in three persons, The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit.  This information was hidden from man until Jesus revealed it.  We are so blessed to live in a time that gives us the entire Word of God.  We are admonished to keep our faith in tact and not to let our minds wander with every wind of doctrine.  I pray that we will be able to withstand the tricks of the enemy and lean on God for our strength.

It is so hard for us as human beings to believe that the God of the universe would only give us one way to salvation.  We want to be able to live life our own way and be saved.  God says we must accept the fact that Jesus died, was buried and rose on the third day.  We must repent of our sins.  Then we must call on Him and ask to be saved.  There is no remission of sin without blood and Jesus is the final acceptable blood sacrifice.   And we must have faith because Hebrews 11:6 tells us But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

God has shown Himself to be creative by all that we can see and beyond.  He has made diversity in this world and He loves His creation.  Our problem is that He has given us only one way to come to Him and that is through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.  No judgment or pleading on the part of another human being can make us believe.  Only the Holy Spirit can speak to our heart and mind and gently show us our deep need for God.
God is love.  He gave us His only begotten Son.  Our debt for sin has been paid if we only believe and accept it.  We, however, will always feel a deep debt to Jesus for what He has done for us when we understand just how much He loves us.

Colossians 1:9-14

I read this today in my devotions and felt I just had to share it from the Amplified.  I first read it in the NKJV.  However, I love how the Amplified Bible gives hints as to the original meaning behind some key words.

Col 1:9 For this reason we also, from the day we heard of it, have not ceased to pray and make [special] request for you, [asking] that you may be filled with the full (deep and clear) knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom [in comprehensive insight into the ways and purposes of God] and in understanding and discernment of spiritual things-
10 That you may walk (live and conduct yourselves) in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him and desiring to please Him in all things, bearing fruit in every good work and steadily growing and increasing in and by the knowledge of God [with fuller, deeper, and clearer insight, acquaintance, and recognition].
11 [We pray] that you may be invigorated and strengthened with all power according to the might of His glory, [exercise] every kind of endurance and patience (perseverance and forbearance) with joy,
12 Giving thanks to the Father, Who has qualified and made us fit to share the portion which is the inheritance of the saints (God's holy people) in the Light.
13 [The Father] has delivered and drawn us to Himself out of the control and the dominion of darkness and has transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love.
14 In Whom we have our redemption through His blood, [which means] the forgiveness of sins.

I believe God has given us this prayer in the Bible so that we can pray this for all of this believers throughout the world.

God is the Answer.

"I know now, Lord, why You utter no answer.  You are Yourself the answer."  CS Lewis

I love this quote.  How often I forget that God is the answer to my deepest question.  Do you ever get so bound up in the how and why of your existence that you only see a black hole?  Do you get fearful and anxious?  Can you sometimes see no end in sight to your problems?  Is there mostly your point of view in your path and little or none of God's point of view?

This is why so many of us are having trouble getting through certain situations.  We need the breakthrough but our fears and doubts keep us focused on the problem and not the answer.

I have found that God will let me stay in my misery as long as I want to or must.  I sometimes feel that there is no way out.  There are blocks in my thinking because of my lack of understanding about who exactly God is.  He has given us more information about Himself in the Bible since Jesus died on the cross than at any other time in history.  But we are blind until we ask the Father, Son and Holy Spirit to open our eyes to the truth.  I am convinced that we could not handle all of the truth at once.  We are somewhat fragile.  Yet we act like we can handle anything.  God has given us many traits of strength and knowledge.  Because of this we think we can get through everything on our own.  But in reality we need our Maker.  He is the only one with the key that opens the door to our true heart and soul.

God tells us not to fear, worry, or be anxious.  He tells us we must have faith in Him.  When we have our eyes on Him, we are brought into love, faith, gentleness and away from the problems that bind us.

I love the scriptures that speak of God leading my path.  Psalm 23:2  ...He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.  And another is Psalm 25:4  Shew me Thy ways, O Lord;  teach me Thy paths.  Lead me in Thy truth and teach me: for Thou art the God of my salvation; on Thee do I wait all the day.

Our God is great and mighty.

Joel 2:25  And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten…
I look at this picture every once in a while and think about how this little bit of land is my land.  It is only a half acre in New Mexico and I have never even seen it except in this picture.  I was praying for something that I could pass on to my son after I die and one day I found this piece of land.  It was available for one dollar and then to make very small payments every month.  It isn’t just a piece of land to me.  This piece of land has a future.  This is one of the many things God has done for me.  God is replacing the “years the locust hath eaten” in my life.

Just this weekend I had a visit from one of my step brothers, Tim, and his family.  I was so happy to see them.  Their children are grown.  It was a great feeling to see them and talk to them.  We had dinner together and really enjoyed each others company.  One of the reasons we don’t see each other much is that they live in the San Diego area and my sister and I live in the San Fernando Valley.  Plus, Tim used to be in the Navy.  He is retired from the Navy now and working for a company.  So now we will be able to visit them too.  I see this visit as the beginning of a restoration.

Then a few days ago I found my cousin, Sara, on Facebook.  What a great feeling.  We were separated from each other when we were very young due to divorce.  We tried to get in contact but I was having a difficult time remembering things so I lost contact with her.  So now that I have found her I gave her my phone number and she gave me hers.  She called me today and it was so great to talk to her.  She is so easy to talk to and I know that this is another restoration from God.

Of course, our final restoration will be when we go to heaven and are with Jesus as His Bride and Church.  But God gives us real earthly restoration as we depend on Him to direct our lives.  Another one of my favorite scriptures is Psalm 23: 3  He restoreth my soul:  He leadeth me in paths of righteousness of His name’s sake.  What a glorious thought that as we turn to God, He restores and leads us.

Why I post about my faith in God.

This morning's Daily Praise says it all.  Please check out this link.

It is not only that I am responsible for the knowledge that God has given me, but for the love of those people that I come in contact with every day.

This is my closet.  I love the way our organizer arranged everything and then we put curtains up instead of a door.  Now I know you have never seen the way it was.  And that is my fault.  I never took pictures before.  But this is a huge change from what it was.

My sister and I live together and she decided to hire an organizer.  Her name is Heather and she is very good at what she does.  The whole house is being organized and in the process my  sister decided to paint and get new floors and new window coverings.  Wow!  The changes are so amazing.  Every day it is something new.

Well it is almost finished and we are very excited.  I will take more pictures of the house when it is finished.  I just wanted to talk about this process because that is exactly what it is.  Its a process.  We have been going through this for several months and it is because we could not go any faster.  Heather could have gone at her own pace and been finished a long time ago, but my sister and I get very emotionally overwhelmed and have to stop.  So Heather gives us some time to think before making another appointment.  We don't think there are many organizers out there who think about their client's problems with the changes that are taking place.

Anyway, now we are so happy that it is almost finished and we have been able to mentally process all of the changes.  All of the letting go of old things and all of the getting new things has been so good for us.

The Lord is so good.  But I didn't always think of God as good.  Because I know, and have known since childhood, that God is Sovereign and can do anything.  Well I just was sure He would think that what I wanted was the best for me.  Wrong!!!  I learned this lesson very slowly and am just now able to trust God with my life so much more than ever before.  I try to give all to Him, but sometimes I don't.  He is very merciful and loving and teaches me as I go along on my journey.  I am reading the book of Job now and I see that we all have this problem.  God does not think like we do and He does everything exactly right.  The book of Job helps me to understand that "He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust." Matthew 5:45

Then when I learn in study and through the preaching of the word, that I must be grateful always and that Jesus died for me, I am always sorry for my bad attitude about the testings and trials in my life.  I am humbled by Job and He was the most righteous man at the time.  Yet, God showed him a slight tendency to be self-righteous.  Wow,  I sure have a long way to go.

Thank and praise the Lord for His great mercy and forgiveness.
